Genmaicha (aslo known as Brown Rice Green Tea) has a unique taste which leaves most first time drinkers pretty impressed, and wondering where the extraordinary flavor of the tea has come from.
Traditionally in Japan, genmaicha was seen as the drink of the poor on account of the added brown rice which was seen as a bulking agent, but now due to many higher quality genmaicha being produced it has a place of its own among Japanese green tea, and is no longer looked down upon.
The brown rice in genmaicha gives it its toasted, nutty flavor. It is a very pleasing and refreshing drink that can be enjoyed throughout the day. If high quality leaves are used, genmaicha is a truly wonderful tea with great flavor and aroma. Unfortunately, a vast majority of genmaicha available on the market today is made with low quality leaves.
Here at "The Japanese green tea shop" we only sell genmaicha which is made with higher grade organic leaves and organic brown rice giving it an excellent flavor and aroma. |
