This is a kohiki handcrafted Mino Yaki matcha bowl. Kohiki (also spelled "kobiki") was first produced in Korea in the Korean Yi Dynasty (1392-1910). Kohiki matcha bowls produced in Japan have an iron-rich clay body covered with a white slip that is applied to the clay before firing. Then, a thicker translucent glaze is applied, resulting in a smooth clean finish.
Handcrafted in the Mino area of Gifu prefecture which is famous for its Japanese pottery.
