A handcrafted Mino Yaki matcha bowl with a black tenmoku glaze. Tenmoku tea bowls were first brought to Japan by Japanese priests from China during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Tenmoku (also spelled "temmoku" and "temoku") is a dark glaze that comprises of feldspar, limestone, and iron oxide.
Handcrafted in the Mino area of Gifu prefecture which is famous for its Japanese pottery.
